My dad called yesterday and said he did a run with his buddy who has a C7. They covered about 300 miles through the interior of Montana including the great driving roads of Wolf Creak and Rogers Pass on hwy 200, down into Lincoln Montana. Lincoln is the home of Ted Kazinski and beef jerky.
Here are his buddies cars and what my dad drove. I can’t think of more contrasting cars that are designed for the same purpose, a 2018 C7 and a 1971 Datsun 240Z. Someone really likes blue, I’m not going to argue both cars look fantastic.

Isn't your dad's car making like 500whp? Is it faster than the C7?

We think the Datsun is in the 350 HP range but at 2300 lbs curb weight it’s frighteningly fast. He says he has a hard time keeping up 0-60 because he can’t shift as fast as a computer but over 60 the cars are evenly matched and the corvette can’t put any distance on him at all. Cornering you never want to race my dad, he can drive faster through a corner in an Isuzu Trooper II than most people can in a Miata.

Sounds like your dad is one helluva driver. Although that comparison reminds me of something you learn quickly if
you ever drive a minivan exuberantl
y. Some people have a better sense of where there cars limits are than others
. I’ve been held up before in the Sienna by German sedans on mildly curvy roads..

This happens to me in rental cars all the time on HWY 17 between San Jose and Santa Cruz. Lots of wealthy people driving 911's and 3 series can’t go around a corner at speed.

I would’ve made this same post, but nobody wants to look at a bunch of Camrys :(

Okay that’s pretty boring.
In my own fathers defense, since getting
old,
he’s switched to a lexus
ES350, which is still basically a camry, but nicer.

Ahh good old 17, been so long (went to grad school at UC Santa Cruz). It’s a nightmare anytime you’re actually trying to get somewhere - but when it’s the middle of the night or some other time when it’s empty, such a fun road.
I had a ‘95 Civic DX when I was in school there, so definitely had to perfect it with a slow car-fast mentality before I ever stepped in to my E30 or S2000. Lots of great driving roads in the Santa Cruz area.

When I was younger there was no center divider on 17 so it was like 200% more dangerous than it is currently.

Wow, can’t even imagine that!

The last “car” my dad owned was a Mercury Topaz. It became my sisters first car. Since then he’s only has trucks.
Oh and my 92 Camry was technically his for 18 mot ha before I paid it off.
